The article announcing SQL Server 2022 is available here.

SQL Server 2022 is the most Azure-connected release of SQL Server yet, with important innovations in these areas: Performance, Security and Continuous Availability:

  • Configuring cloud disaster recovery is now easier with link feature in Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Query Store enabled by default combined with the new generation of Intelligent Query Processing will allow to improve performance in some common scenarios, without changes to the T-SQL code. Parameter Sensitivity Plan (PSP) allows you to cache several execution plans for the same parametric query! Cardinality Estimation (CE) feedback will provide Query Optimizer and Query Processing with more detailed information on query execution metrics to improve future decisions!
  • New innovations in terms of security, scalability and availability confirm SQL Server one of the most secure RDBMS of the planet!
  • The possibility to access and use other storage systems through the PolyBase REST API provides new integration scenarios with external systems
  • The new extensions of the T-SQL language will make developers very happy!
